SAP Devanahalli Campus, Bengaluru
Project Summary
bioSEA was engaged by RSP Architects to assist with the ecological design and assessment of a tech campus in Devanahalli near the Bengaluru airport.
Our key approach was to ascertain the site’s ecological value and suggest nature sensitive design interventions in accordance with RSP’s landscape plans.
The site’s ecological value was assessed through a site visit, desktop review and analysis of biodiversity databases, flora and fauna species assessment and landscape level mapping.
Next, a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis was conducted which allowed us to set an ecological vision for the design process. Nature sensitive design interventions were suggested through appropriate habitat creation on land and in water.
Subsequently, design recommendations spanned various ecological zones across the project phases, bio-pond features, vegetated rooftops, fauna connectivity as well as lighting and soil considerations.
Ultimately, the rich ecology that was proposed to be created on site is predicted to lead to 54% biodiversity gain in fauna species compared to the baseline. The strategic inclusion of greenery and nature-inclusive development of the site presents a unique opportunity for beneficial human-wildlife co-existence to occur.
